People apply for Indefinite Leave to Remain will be required to pass a life in the UK test unless you are under 18 years old or 65 years older. Only under the exceptional circumstances you do not need to pass the life in the UK test. The life in the UK textbook is available online or you can buy it in a book shop.

You must book your Life in the UK Test online at least 3 days in advance. It costs £50.
You can take it at any time. There is no expiry date for the test.
You need to have one of the following to book and take the test:
1. valid passport
2. valid travel document with a photo (you cannot use an emergency travel document)
3. biometric residence permit
4. biometric residence card
You do not need to take the test if you:
1. are under 18
2. are 65 or over
3. have passed it before - for example, if you’re applying to become a citizen and already passed it as part of your settlement application
4. have a long-term physical or mental condition - you must provide either a form or letter from a doctor confirming your physical or mental condition
You can take the test as many times as you can pass the test.
There is no test centre outside of the UK. You have take the test in the UK.
There are 24 questions and you need to pass at least 18 questions.
